Who hasn't heard about the circulation plan in Ghent yet? It was probably the most discussed topic in the East Flemish capital in 2019. This not only has an impact on its inhabitants, but certainly also on logistics in the city. Streets you are not allowed to drive on, permits that you need to request in time or busy peak times. It is nowadays complex to get to your destination in the city center of Ghent. So we went looking for an alternative solution.
Initially we thought of transport by bicycle, as many companies do nowadays. For larger deliveries we should look at an electric cargo bike, which of course immediately drives up the cost for a small start-up like ours. So we had to change our mindset.
Since we both love water sports, Afterwards we thought about using the 2 rivers that flow through Ghent: the Lys and the Scheldt. There are currently no restrictions here and you also have a unique view of our city.
There are only 2 possibilities when you talk about water transport: a motor or muscle power. Since we both move less than we would like in our job or while studying, the canoe seemed to us to be a unique and environmentally friendly alternative for transporting our gin to the inner city. It also allows us to take a significant cargo on board (which is much less useful in a kayak).
And so it happened, since 20 april 2019 we provide our Ghent regional product in the city center via the water with the Graslei as our favorite mooring place. Wave to us when you see us passing by? That makes our trip even more fun!
